Katekyo Hitman Reborn!

Welcome to my section on Katekyo Hitman Reborn!. Here I will cover both the Manga and the Anime. Katekyo Hitman Reborn! is an amazing story once you get into it. It's a popular manga/anime between those who follow this kind of genre and those who like it are loyal followers, but it is worthy of so much more. The way the story start out is nothing compared to what comes after. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

The Reborn! story revolves around a boy named Tsunayoshi "Tsuna" Sawada, who is chosen to become the Vongola Family's boss due to him being the great-great-great grandson of the first Vongola boss, who had moved to Japan from Italy during his time. Also, the other candidates for the position of the head of the Vongola Family died. For these reasons, Tsuna is the only remaining heir. As such, Timoteo a.k.a. "Vongola IX," the current head of the family, sends Reborn, an infant hitman from Italy, to train Tsuna. Tsuna then unwillingly undergoes training from Reborn. Reborn's main method of teaching Tsuna is the "Dying Will Bullet" ("Deathperation Shot" in Viz Media's translation of the manga), which will make the person be "reborn" with a stronger self intent on fulfilling his dying will. Through his experiences, Tsuna unconsciously becomes stronger and more confident, which ultimately makes him better suited as the Vongola Family's boss despite continuing to reject his Mafia inheritance. Tsuna goes through many predicaments in his progress of becoming the Vongola boss including fighting against escaped Mafia convicts posing as Kokuyo Junior High students. Later, The Varia, a rival group of Vongola assassins, claim the right for their boss to be the true Vongola boss, and start a competition to decide it. To defeat the Varia, Reborn recruits most of Tsuna's schoolmates to become the Vongola guardians: Hayato Gokudera, a dynamite expert who wishes to be his right-hand man, Takeshi Yamamoto, a baseball player who thinks the Mafia is a game, Ryohei Sasagawa, the energetic captain of the school boxing club, and Kyoya Hibari, the deadly head prefect. Lambo, a weak infant assassin who came to kill Reborn, and Chrome Dokuro, a girl who has a mental and physical link with the criminal Mukuro Rokudo, joins them as well. After defeating the Varia, Tsuna and his friends are accidentally transported to the future where they must face the Millefiore Family, which is annihilating the Vongola.

Tsunayoshi 'Tsuna' Sawada Sawada "Tsuna" Tsunayoshi: Tsuna is a junior-high student and the Vongola Family's mob-boss-in-training. The reason Tsuna was recruited is because he is the great-great-great grandson of the first Vongola boss, who had moved to Japan a long time ago. Also, the other candidates, for the position of the head of the Vongola Family, died. Before Reborn finds Tsuna, Tsuna is known as "No Good Tsuna" for his poor grades, bad luck, and lack of athleticism. When Reborn shoots him with the Dying Will Bullet, he is revived as a powerful mostly-naked warrior with a flame on his forehead. Reborn Reborn: The infant hitman who drags Tsuna into becoming a mob boss and becomes his home tutor. The current head of the Vongola family sent Reborn to train Tsuna. He is Vongola IX's most trusted hitman. Despite being a mere one year old infant, he behaves as a seasoned mafioso. Reborn often says "Ciao-su" (a mix of the Italian "ciao" and the Japanese "osu", which is a casual male greeting equivalent to the English "Yo!" or "Wassup!").

Gokudera Hayato Gokudera Hayato: A transfer student that was placed in Tsuna's class. Gokudera, who had previously studied in Italy, is a dynamite expert nicknamed "Smokin' Bomb Hayato". He keeps various explosives hidden on his person and uses those explosives liberally by lighting them with a cigarette (or several) held in his mouth. At one point, when he removed his jacket to do 'dynamite maintenance', he was revealed to be carrying several dozen dynamites, much to everyone's surprise. Yamamoto Takeshi Yamamoto Takeshi: Yamamoto, a seventh-grader, is the popular baseball star of Tsuna's school. He becomes friends with Tsuna, and Reborn tries to recruit him into the Vongola Family. He hardly takes anything seriously, and is often "tricked" by Reborn because he thinks that "It's a game". Reborn occasionally trains him by putting him in dangerous situations, but Yamamoto still believes it to be just a game or simple baseball training. His reflexes are unreasonably good, as is his level of obliviousness; he thinks the various weapons and dangerous objects he sees Reborn and others use on a regular basis are just really advanced kid's toys.

Sasagawa Ryohei Sasagawa Ryohei: Kyoko's older brother who is obsessed with boxing; he even barged into a zoo, expecting to fight some animals. He is the third to take the Dying Will Shot, but it has no effect on him since he always lives "to the limit," and is therefore in Dying Will Mode constantly. He wants to recruit Tsuna to the boxing club and in response; Reborn wants to recruit him into the family. Every time he sees Tsuna and his family doing something strange, he gets fired up and always wants to be a part of it. Hibari Kyoya Hibari Kyoya: Hibari is the leader of the Discipline Committee, or Prefects, who all happen to be a group of delinquents loyal to Hibari. Even so, he is a violent delinquent who uses his status to harass other students. He prefers to be alone and cares little for his subordinates. If he is amongst a crowd, he tends to play violent "games" with rules like "I'll kill anyone who wakes me up when I'm sleeping," and as mentioned, the loser often has to pay the price with his life.

Sasagawa Ryohei Rokudo Mukuro: He is a 15-year-old Mafia criminal who escaped from an Italian prison, which held some of the most dangerous Mafia criminals, before he was to be executed. Not long after, he, along with his two subordinates, came to Japan, enrolled in Kokuyo Junior High, and started the Kokuyo Gang, which consists of heinous criminals whom have recently escaped from prison. Skilled in casting illusions as well as mind control, He attempts to take his revenge on the Mafia by taking over Tsuna's body and using him to wreak havoc. When his plan fails due to Tsuna's interference, he is once again imprisoned. However, later on in the series, after possessing the body of Chrome Dokuro, he takes on a more supportive role for the series' main characters, though still prefers to not want to associate with them. Sasagawa Ryohei Chrome Dokuro: She is a 13-year-old Japanese girl who wears a Kokuyo school uniform. Mukuro Rokudo uses her as a vessel after he saved her life by creating illusionary organs for her when she lost her right eye and some of her organs in an accident. Chrome has been shown using two of Mukuro's six skills: creating illusions and summoning beasts that kill the enemy. The Japanese romaji of her name, Kuromu Dokuro, is an anagram of Mukuro Rokudo. Chrome is the named holder of the Mist Ring, and thus battles Mammon in the Vongola Tournament. When she is overwhelmed by Mammon's powers, Mukuro takes control and defeats him.

Lambo Lambo: He is a cow suit-clad 5-year-old assassin from Italy affiliated with the Bovino ("Bovino" means "bovine" in Italian) Family. He has a huge afro (which he stores a variety of objects in, such as snacks and weapons) with horns on the sides of his head. Despite being a hitman, he lacks the emotional maturity and discipline that Reborn has and is also very conceited as well as being a crybaby. In order to prove that he is worthy of becoming his own family's boss, he comes to Japan to kill Reborn, though he only proves that he is no match for the Vongola hitman. His main choice of weapons are hand grenades, and his future dream is to rule the world. He also possesses his family's Ten-Year Bazooka, which replaces his present self with another version of himself ten years into the future. The 15-year-old Lambo remains a crybaby, though his good looks make him more charming to others. I-Pin I-Pin: She is a 5-year-old assassin from Hong Kong. She is regularly transformed into her 15-year-old self by way of Lambo's Ten Year Bazooka. The 15-year-old "Adult I-Pin" is now fluent in Japanese, and despite the fact that she is one of the most promising young assassins; she works part-time at a Chinese Restaurant ten years later in order to earn money for college tuition, though she still retains her skills. I-Pin's main ability is the usage of Gyoza-Ken, which combines her martial arts abilities with special gyoza buns laced with the scent of garlic, the latter of which numbs the brain and forces the muscles to involuntarily move on their own.

Sasagawa Kyoko Sasagawa Kyoko: She is a girl Tsuna has a crush on, and is in the same grade as him. She is somewhat air headed, and thinks all the events surrounding Tsuna are part of a game. Nonetheless, she is very kindhearted and cheerful, and loves her older brother Ryohei, whom she often worries about. She, along with Haru, often enjoys babysitting Lambo and I-Pin. When she takes the Dying Will Shot, her form is more quiet and polite. Though she is not fully aware of how much Tsuna likes her, she thinks of him as a good friend. She first sees Tsuna in action after being sent nine years and ten months into the future right when her future self was being attacked by Millefiore members. Though she is not informed of the Mafia, she seems to be more aware of the transpiring events. Miura Haru Miura Haru: She is an eccentric and peppy girl who has a tendency to jump to wild conclusions, and has various odd costumes that she designs herself, as well as a myriad of wild habits. Despite this, she attends Midori Middle School, one of the toughest elite schools to get into in the area. She initially adores Reborn, but after she is saved from drowning by Tsuna, she diverted her adoration towards him instead. She loves and is overprotective of children and is usually the one to babysit Lambo and I-Pin with Kyoko. According to Tsuna and Gokudera, adult Haru has become more feminine, but her way of thinking is still the same.
